A Little From Its Heart

The water wasn't supposed to look like this.

What was once clear has turned cloudy green. The current twists and swirls around him as the storm churns everything that had once felt familiar.

This little turtle has found himself in turbulent waters.

He could exhaust himself trying to escape them.

He could pretend the storm isn't frightening.

Instead, he does something much braver.

He finds a safe place to hold on.

The swirling spacer beads beside him represent the currents twisting through the water, while the green beads hold the color of an ocean changed by the storm.

For now, this isn't the peaceful water he knows.

But it is still his ocean.

And he is still himself.

So he tucks himself somewhere safe, turns toward the storm...

and faces it.

Not because he isn't afraid.

Not because he knows exactly what will happen.

Not because he's certain it won't be hard.

He faces it because somewhere inside that little shell, he knows something the storm doesn't:

It may change the water around him, but it does not get to decide who he is.

Sometimes our lives get churned up too.

Something happens that changes everything we thought we understood.

The water becomes difficult to navigate.

We become afraid.

And maybe strength doesn't mean charging recklessly into whatever comes next.

Maybe sometimes strength looks like finding something steady, holding on tightly, and saying:

I'm scared. But I'm still here.

You are allowed to protect yourself while you face something difficult.

You are allowed to be afraid while you're being courageous.

You are allowed to wait somewhere safe while the worst of the storm passes.

None of those things mean the storm has beaten you.

This little turtle's Whisper is simple:
